Not sure if this is a problem or my improper configuration of Plans!

Currently it is 6:20 PM Pacific Daylight Time (Saturday, Oct 7). The calendar is showing the current date as Sunday October 8th!

I think it may be a timezone setting in that I may be in one timezone (Pacific) and the host server is in a different time zone (not sure which one!). Would this make a difference?

How can I tell which timezone Plans is using?

NOTE: I have not changed the timezone setting in plans_config.pl

Thanks,

Paul

In order to cancel any difference in the server timezone, Plans always acts as though it's in greenwich, and stores all times in GMT. The timezone offset is the difference between your (the plans user) timezone and GMT.

Regrettably, you need to set the timezone before you add events Sad Any events you added were relative to the timezone setting when they were added. If you change the timezone, you'll have some adjusting to do.

Luckily, there is a utility for that:

OK. Fortunately all of the events I've added so far are only 'testing' events. Once I get it all figured out, I intend to delete all the events and then add real events!

So my first question is where do I change the timezone. The only reference I see to timezones is in plans_config.pl and that appears to not be the place to do this!

If I should use the plans_time_adjust.pl add-on, how do I do this. I see the instructions that tell me to run this, but do I do this on my computer or upload it to the server and run it from there?

Thanks,

OK, I copied that file to my hard drive and then to the same folder the plans.cgi. Unfortunately I do not know how to 'execute' the file. I tried just by putting the filename in my browser, but that resulted in an 'Internal Server Error'.

So how do I execute this file?

Thanks,

Paul

You need to have command-line access (telnet or ssh) to the server. Otherwise you won't be able to use the utility. If you're unable to run the utility, you'll have to live with the current day changing at the wrong hour, or adjust the event times manually Sad

OK, so far I only have test events that will be deleted once I've done all the testing and customizing - so there's no problem with it right now.

Is there any way to change the timezone problem before entering real events?

Thanks,

Paul

Absolutely - You can change the timezone offset when you edit the calendar settings. It's under the "special options" tab.
