Upcoming events suggestion

First of all thanks for the great work on plans. A few version back the upcoming events script generated a static file that you could just simply insert into your page. Although it was not as complex as the one now it had one advantage, download size. Many people, including myself, use the upcoming events list on the home page because you get people to see it best. The only problem is that the home page should be the fastest to download. The included javascript adds about 20-25 seconds to downloading a page on dial-up. It would be helpful if just the code needed for upcoming events could somehow be included to decrease size or maybe a server side version could be used to help improve download speeds.
